This home seemed to be an inaccurate representation of what it should have been: a luxury home nestled on a quiet residential street in one of the most affluent neighbourhoods of Toronto. With a grandiose exterior matching its neighbours, its interior was definitely not. Unnecessary walls, low ceilings, dated flooring and tired fixtures cluttered each space. The new owners of this home contracted O.E Design & Build Ltd. to gut the interior and start anew. Once dark and unwelcoming, the foyer was transformed from a space that “stops”, to one that flows into the rest of house. The wall hiding the kitchen was removed, creating a more inviting atmosphere. To maintain the concept of airiness, the banisters and stairways were changed and crafted out of American walnut and custom made glass. Dated floor tiles were replaced with imported ceramic porcelain tiles. The kitchen is often the centrepoint of the home, a point perhaps the original designer overlooked. With limited counterspace, tiny windows, drab

cuboards and dated appliances, the kitchen was transformed into a chic and welcoming space. Built-in stainless steel appliances of professional grade, custom glass back-painted backsplash, CaesarStone Quartz countertops and Italian-made cabinetry take this space from drab to fab. At a claustrophobic 8', the ceiling in the living room was lifted to a lofty 11', the windows were expanded for more natural light and interfering walls were removed.

The main bathroom was designed to not only be a “toilet and bath”, but where form is celebrated through function. Entering the bathroom through a customized glass and chrome door, the usage of glass wall tiles and back-painted glass for the cabinets exude lightness. The floor in the shower was crafted from riverstone.

Upon completion, it was confirmed that both the budget and deadline were adhered to. The owners are extremely happy with the end result and the termendous value it added to their property.
